Enjoyable and affordable old-school course

Set in a mature wooded valley and built around a huge natural reservoir teeming with wildlife, the 36 holes of Plutaluang Navy Golf Course is a must play for nature lovers. The design of the course is a bit old fashioned, which isn't surprising for a course build in the 1960s, and the rare use of Zoysia grass only adds to the natural feel of the course.

The course is made up of four nine-hole loops, North, South, East and West, with the latter two added in the the mid 1990s. The courses offer an enjoyable challenge characterised by narrow greens, plenty of bunkers, and some thick rough if you get offline.

Water also occasionally comes into play, most notably on the third hole on the north course, which features an island green with an Instagram-worthy lighthouse overlooking the green, and the last hole on the South Course, which requires a tricky approach over water to the small putting surface.

The clubhouse has been recently upgraded, with much improved changing rooms and showers - although rather unusually they charge you extra for the use of towels. There's also a basic pro shop and an affordable restaurant serving drinks and local cuisine while offering great views across the course.

Overall, a round at Plutaluang Navy Golf Course is perfect if you're looking for an enjoyable day out in beautiful surroundings on your next Pattaya golf holiday.
