Pattaya Chinese New Year Festival 2027

Every year, Pattaya welcomes the Lunar New Year with two weeks of red lanterns, lion dances and dragon parades. The Pattaya Chinese New Year Festival 2027 celebrates the Year of the Fire Goat, with Chinese New Year's Day falling on Saturday 6 February 2027, the heart of a festive fortnight expected to run from Saturday 30 January to Saturday 13 February 2027, organised by Pattaya City in a town where Thai-Chinese heritage runs deep.

Naklua, the old fishing quarter north of Pattaya Beach, is home to a large Thai-Chinese community, and the celebrations are as much a local tradition as a show for visitors: families gather, ancestors are honoured, and the streets fill with music, food and colour.

Lanterns in Naklua, Dragons on Walking Street

Three locations are dressed for the occasion: Lan Pho Public Park in Naklua, next to the seafood market, the entrance arch to Walking Street, and the plaza in front of Pattaya City Hall. Red lanterns, illuminated installations, Chinese sculptures and photo spots light up the city for the whole festival period.

On Chinese New Year's Day, the morning opens with blessing ceremonies at the King Taksin Monument, the Prince of Chumphon Monument and the Sawang Boriboon Foundation, with lion and dragon dances at each site. In the evenings, Lan Pho Park and Walking Street host lion dance performances and dragon parades with full light and sound, alongside the Chinese Boy & Girl Pattaya contest, Thai-Chinese cultural shows and a live concert by a popular Thai band.

Where to Stay for Chinese New Year in Pattaya

Chinese New Year is a family celebration, and it is also one of the busiest travel weeks of the year across Asia.
