Santiburi Samui Country Club: Koh Samui's Championship Course
On the hills of Koh Samui's north coast, above Mae Nam, Santiburi Samui Country Club is the island's only 18-hole championship course, and one of the most spectacular in Thailand. Opened in 2003 and designed by Edward Thiele and Pirapon Namatra, it winds through former coconut plantations, forest, streams and waterfalls, with panoramic views over the Gulf of Thailand and Koh Phangan. A regular stop on the Asian Tour for many years, it hosted the Bangkok Airways Open in 2006 and the Queen's Cup.
The Course
18 holes · Par 72 · up to 6,930 yards from the back tees
Carved into the mountainside, the course climbs from 25 to 180 metres above sea level. Steep uphill and downhill holes, narrow fairways cut through the forest, rock outcrops and streams make accuracy far more important than power. The greens are large, fast and true, and the immaculate Paspalum fairways stay in excellent condition all year round.
Most holes offer magnificent views of the sea and the beaches, with the island of Koh Phangan on the horizon.

Location: Mae Nam, north coast of Koh Samui
Opening hours: every day, with first tee times from 7:00 AM
Facilities: caddies, golf carts, driving range, putting and chipping greens, club and shoe rental, pro shop, changing rooms and clubhouse restaurant with a sea-view terrace
Distance: about 30 minutes by car from Chaweng
Good to Know
Caddies and carts are compulsory: the course is set on steep mountain slopes.
Dress code: collared shirt, golf trousers or tailored shorts and golf shoes are required.
Group size: up to 5 people per group, including non-playing guests.
Children: children under 12 are not allowed on the course.
Allow time: a round takes about 4 hours 30 minutes, so tee off early to enjoy the cooler morning.
The 19th hole: enjoy a fresh coconut on the clubhouse terrace, with views over Mae Nam towards Koh Phangan.
