Koh Sak: The Snorkelling Island Next to Koh Larn

Just north of Koh Larn, about 8 km off the coast of Pattaya, Koh Sak is a small horseshoe-shaped island known for its clear water and its snorkelling. With no public ferry and only basic facilities, it stays much quieter than Koh Larn, and is one of the favourite stops of island-hopping boat trips from Pattaya. A perfect half-day escape for swimming, snorkelling and enjoying a more natural side of the islands.

What to Do on Koh Sak

Snorkel Near the Shore

Koh Sak is one of the best snorkelling spots close to Pattaya. Around the smaller southern beach, the water is clear and you can discover corals and tropical fish just a few metres from the shore.

Relax on the Main Beach

The larger northern beach, set in the curve of the horseshoe bay, offers soft sand and calm water for swimming and relaxing.

Water Activities

Sea walking with a diving helmet, paddleboarding, kayaking and other water activities are available, depending on the season and the boat operators.

Island Hopping

Koh Sak is easy to combine with Koh Larn, and with other small islands nearby, for a full day at sea on a private boat.

How to Get There

  • By private boat: the best way to enjoy Koh Sak at your own pace, about 20 minutes by speedboat from Bali Hai Pier. Ask our Concierge Team.

  • By island-hopping tour: most speedboat tours from Pattaya combine Koh Sak and Koh Larn in one day.

  • No public ferry: unlike Koh Larn, Koh Sak is not served by the public ferries.

Practical Information

Good to Know

  • Basic facilities: bring water, sunscreen, a hat and your own snorkelling gear if you have it.

  • Protect the reef: do not touch or stand on the corals, and choose a reef-safe sunscreen.

  • Water shoes: recommended on the southern beach, where the sand is mixed with small rocks.

  • Leave no trace: take all your rubbish back with you, as facilities on the island are limited.

  • Season: November to April offers the calmest sea and the best visibility. Boat trips can be cancelled in rough weather.
