Tawaen Beach: Koh Larn's Most Popular Beach
Just off the coast of Pattaya, Tawaen Beach is the largest and liveliest beach on Koh Larn, also known as Coral Island. About 800 metres of fine white sand, backed by a green wooded hill, with clear turquoise water much nicer than on the mainland beaches. With its restaurants, loungers and water sports, it is the most popular island escape from Pattaya, and the easiest to reach by boat.
What to Do on Tawaen Beach
Swim in Clear Water
The water at Tawaen is clearer and calmer than in Pattaya Bay, perfect for a long swim in warm, turquoise sea.
Water Sports
Parasailing, jet skis, banana boats, kayaks and sea walking with a helmet are all available along the beach. Choose a reputable operator and check the equipment before you ride, or ask our team to recommend one.
Lunch by the Sea
The beach is lined with restaurants and food stalls serving fresh seafood and Thai dishes, with loungers and umbrellas to rent for the day.
Explore the Island
From Tawaen, it is easy to discover the other beaches of Koh Larn, quieter and more natural, such as Tien Beach and Samae Beach, by local songthaew or scooter.
How to Get There
By ferry: public ferries leave from Bali Hai Pier, at the southern end of Walking Street. Some go directly to Tawaen Beach, others to Na Ban Pier, from where songthaews take you to the beach. The crossing takes about 45 minutes.
By speedboat: the fastest option, about 15 minutes, though the ride can be bumpy and is not recommended for young children or pregnant women.
By private boat: the most comfortable way to enjoy the island at your own pace, and to discover several beaches in one day. Ask our Concierge Team.

Good to Know
Go early: take a morning boat to enjoy the beach before the crowds, especially at weekends and in high season.
Check the last boat: ferry times change with the season, so always check the return schedule at the pier.
Looking for quiet? Tawaen is the busiest beach on the island. For a calmer day, try Tien or Samae Beach.
Bring essentials: sunscreen, a hat, water shoes and cash for food and loungers.
Season: November to April offers the calmest sea and the clearest water.
