Soi 7 & Soi 8: Pattaya's Beer Bar Streets
Two short streets between Beach Road and Second Road, in the heart of central Pattaya. Soi 7 and Soi 8 are the classic Pattaya beer-bar sois: open-front bars packed side by side, pool tables, cold beer, sport on the screens and the best people watching in town. Less intense than Walking Street, more central than Soi Buakhao, and a two-minute walk from each other.
What to Expect
Soi 7: the livelier of the two. Bars line both sides from the Beach Road end to Second Road, most with open fronts, music and a pool table, so you can walk through, stop for a drink and keep going.
Soi 8: one of Pattaya's longest-established bar streets, with a slightly more relaxed mix of bars, restaurants and small hotels. The Beach Road end is the busiest, a few steps from the seafront.
The format: sit at the bar or on the terrace, order a beer, play a game of pool, chat with the staff. Nobody expects you to stay all night, and nobody minds if you do.
The rhythm: bars open in the afternoon and build through the evening, with the busiest hours after dark. Both sois stay lively until the early hours.

Good to Know
Check prices first: most bars display a drinks list, but ask if you don't see one. Drinks for staff are usually priced separately from your own.
Start at the beach: the Beach Road ends of both sois are the busiest. Walk in from the seafront after sunset for the best atmosphere.
Pool etiquette: most tables are free to play; a drink for your opponent is the usual courtesy.
Cash is simpler: smaller bars may not take cards.
Combine your evening: Soi 6 is a short walk north, and Walking Street a 10-minute stroll south along Beach Road.
