Tucked between Pratumnak Hill and the northern end of Jomtien, Dongtan Beach is one of the most pleasant and relaxed beaches in Pattaya. Its car-free promenade, shaded by tall palm and casuarina trees, makes it perfect for a lazy day by the sea, a morning walk or a sunset stroll. What to Do on Dongtan Beach
Relax in the Shade
Unlike many beaches in Pattaya, Dongtan offers natural shade under its trees. Rows of loungers and umbrellas line the sand, and the friendly beach vendors will bring you drinks, fresh coconuts and lunch right to your chair.
Walk Along the Promenade
The tree-lined promenade behind the beach is closed to traffic and lit in the evening, ideal for a jog at sunrise or a peaceful walk as the sun sets over the Gulf of Thailand.
Enjoy a Calm Swim
With fewer jet skis than the busier beaches, Dongtan's water is usually calm, perfect for a relaxing swim.
Find Your Own Corner
Further along, the beach becomes quieter and more natural, with open sand under the trees where you can lay your own towel, and even a beach volleyball court.

Location: Dongtan Beach Road, at the northern end of Jomtien, south of Pratumnak Hill
Access: free, open every day
Getting there: about 10 to 15 minutes by car from our villas in Soi Pattaya Land. Songthaews (baht buses) also run between Pattaya and Jomtien.

Beach service: many lounger operators keep a tab for your drinks and food all day, so you can simply relax.
