Koh Kham and Samae San: Sattahip's Protected Islands
At the southern tip of Sattahip, about an hour from Pattaya, the islands of Koh Kham and Koh Samae San are among the best-preserved islands on Thailand's eastern coast. Managed and protected by the Royal Thai Navy, with a limited number of visitors each day, they offer powdery white sand, crystal-clear water and healthy coral reefs, far from the crowds of the islands near Pattaya. A rare and peaceful island experience, best organised in advance.
What to Do on the Islands
Snorkel in Crystal-Clear Water
Koh Kham is part of a royal marine conservation project, and its protected waters are home to corals and colourful fish close to the shore. Snorkelling equipment is usually provided on site.
Relax on a White-Sand Beach
Thanks to the daily visitor limit, the beaches stay clean, quiet and uncrowded, perfect for a peaceful day by the sea.
Walk the Wooden Bridge
On Koh Kham, a wooden walkway stretches out over the turquoise water, one of the most photographed spots on the coast.
Kayak Around the Bay
Kayaks are available to explore the calm water around the island at your own pace.
How to Visit
Reservation required: the number of visitors is limited each day, and bookings must be made in advance with an ID.
Accompanied visits: foreign visitors usually need to be accompanied by a Thai guide. Our Concierge Team can organise your visit, from the booking to the transfer.
Boats: the islands are reached by Navy-authorised boats from the piers of Samae San. Private boats cannot land independently.

Good to Know
Book early: places are limited, especially at weekends and in high season.
Bring an ID: a passport or valid ID is required for the reservation and on the day.
Daytime only: boats leave in the morning and return in the afternoon, and overnight stays are not allowed.
Respect the rules: alcohol is not allowed, and the instructions of the Navy staff must be followed.
Protect the reef: do not touch the corals, and choose a reef-safe sunscreen.
