Soi 6: Pattaya's Afternoon Bar Street

Soi 6 runs on a different clock from the rest of Pattaya. While Walking Street is still asleep, this short street between Beach Road and Second Road is already busy. Soi 6 packs nearly a hundred open-front bars into less than 500 metres, one after the other, with staff calling out from every doorway and a dense, social atmosphere unlike anywhere else in town. Loud, friendly and unapologetically adult. Adults only.

What to Expect

The street: a straight, narrow soi lined wall to wall with bars, most of them open to the street. You walk the length in five minutes, then walk back and choose.

The bars: small hostess bars with a counter, a few stools and often a pool table. Several belong to the same groups, which run their bars with the same prices and the same management. Independent bars sit in between. Prices are lower than Walking Street and the whole evening is far simpler.

The crowd: mostly Western expats and repeat visitors, a mix of ages, and a relaxed pace. Most people arrive alone or in pairs and end up chatting with whoever is next to them.

The rhythm: Soi 6 is the one Pattaya street that lives in the afternoon. Bars open at 1:00 PM, the crowd builds through the afternoon and early evening, and the street keeps going until 2:00 AM.

  • Opening hours: 1:00 PM to 2:00 AM, every day, hours vary slightly by venue

  • Getting there: about 10 minutes by car from Walking Street or Soi Pattaya Land. Bolt or Grab is the easiest option, or ask our team to arrange your transport.

  • Age: adults only. The legal drinking age in Thailand is 20.

Good to Know

  • Come in the afternoon: this is what makes Soi 6 unique. Between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM the street is at its best, well before the rest of Pattaya wakes up.

  • Check prices first: most bars display a drinks list, but ask if you don't see one. Drinks for staff are usually priced separately from your own.

  • No photos inside: staff and customers do not want to be filmed. Keep your phone in your pocket once you sit down.

  • Cash is simpler: most bars do not take cards.

  • Walk it first: go from one end to the other before choosing. Every bar has its own atmosphere, and the one that suits you may be three doors further.
