Khao Kheow Open Zoo: Wildlife in the Open, and Home of Moo Deng
In the green foothills of Khao Kheow mountain, north of Pattaya, Khao Kheow Open Zoo is one of Thailand's largest and most beautiful zoos. Opened in 1974, it is home to thousands of animals living in spacious, natural enclosures spread over a vast forested park. It's also where Moo Deng, the little pygmy hippo who became a worldwide star, was born, and where you can still meet her today.
What to Expect
Moo Deng: the famous pygmy hippo, born at the zoo in July 2024, in her enclosure with her family.
The Savanna Zone: feed the giraffes and watch zebras and other African animals in a wide, open landscape.
Deer park and aviary: walk among the deer and through a giant aviary full of rare birds.
Thai wildlife: tigers, leopards, Asian wild dogs and many other species from Thailand and around the world.
Shows and feedings: animal shows and feeding sessions throughout the day.

Good to Know
Rent a golf cart: the zoo is very large and hilly, and a golf cart is the most comfortable way to get around.
Come early: arrive at opening for cooler temperatures and more active animals.
Don't arrive too late: the zoo closes at 5:00 PM, and you'll need several hours to enjoy it.
What to bring: hat, sunscreen, water and comfortable shoes.
Getting there: there is no direct public transport, so a private car is the easiest option. Our team can arrange it for you.
