Everyone knows Tree Town. Fewer people know that right behind it sits a second open-air complex just as big. Myth Night Bar Beer Town is a village of beer bars at the end of Soi Made in Thailand, wedged between Soi Buakhao and Second Road, with a second entrance opposite Central Festival. Dozens of small bars around open courtyards, pool tables, music from every corner and a crowd that drifts over from Tree Town when it wants a change of scene.

What to Expect

The layout: an open-air maze of bars built around lanes and courtyards, with no roof over the walkways and a canopy over each bar. You can walk in from Soi Made in Thailand on the Soi Buakhao side, or from Second Road opposite Central Festival, and come out the other end at Tree Town.

The bars: classic Pattaya beer bars, a counter, a few stools, a pool table and staff who wave you in. Dozens of them, many with British or Irish names, all at similar prices. The fun is in moving from one to the next.

The crowd: expats and repeat visitors who prefer the lanes to the main street, plus shoppers crossing over from Central Festival after dark. Relaxed and sociable, nobody rushes you.

The rhythm: bars open in the afternoon, the courtyards fill through the evening, and the music keeps going until the early hours.

  • Pool etiquette: most tables are free to play; a drink for your opponent is the usual courtesy.

  • Cash is simpler: small bars rarely take cards.
